About ArcStar

ArcStar is a home for mathematical games, procedural systems, technical writing, and related creative experiments.

The site began alongside the development of RuneGrid, an iOS puzzle game built around hidden algebraic structure, pattern discovery, and generative sound.

One of the central ideas behind RuneGrid is that players should not need formal mathematical knowledge in order to enjoy the game. Group theory, symmetry, procedural structure, and transformation systems exist beneath the surface, informing the behaviour and atmosphere of the game without overwhelming the player with explicit theory.

ArcStar exists partly as a place to explore those hidden layers in more detail:

  • procedural puzzle generation
  • group-theoretic structures
  • visual pattern systems
  • generative music and harmony
  • mathematics in game design
  • technical implementation notes

The writing here is intended to feel closer to a technical notebook or development journal than a traditional marketing blog.

Current areas of interest include finite groups, procedural audio, symbolic systems, calm puzzle design, and the relationship between hidden structure and player intuition.
